Act of Faith!

Luke 10:2 NKJV - Then He said to them, "The harvest truly [is] great, but the laborers [are] few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

I am praising God for sending workers to help with the harvest. Each Released Time Bible Program volunteer is necessary for God's plan to unfold. it is amazing to think that God prepares the lost soul and the heart of the worker in the field.  There is a wonderful balance of workers to minister and those who need to be ministered to. During this past year, one school was faced with a crisis of too many children to volunteers and thought that the best solution was to limit the number of children that could attend and start a waiting list. I encouraged the coordinator to have the group begin to pray for God to send more workers. Over the course of the year when they would get close to reaching the limit of students God would provide a new volunteer. At the end of the year, God had brought enough workers to minister to the 89 children he called to the Released Time Bible Program for that school.
God used this exercise in prayer to stretch the faith of the volunteers and proved that his promises are true.  Philippians 4:19 NKJV - And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
How is God stretching your faith? What is he calling you to do that would take an act of faith to complete?

Where Are The Men?

Philippians 4:19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

While claiming this true promise of God that he will supply what we need I am asking you to join us in prayer.  We need male counselors for the summer. Camp Joy El is seeking godly young men with a heart for ministering to children in practical and spiritual ways. Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

I Feel Sad

When Guest groups are on site the Joy El phones are routed to the staff member that is the "host" for the weekend.  Two weeks ago the weekend host receives a phone call from a young man who was looking for someone to talk with. He had received a certificate from Joy El Released Time Bible Program commemorating the day that he began a relationship with Christ, and on the bottom is the phone number for Joy El. he called because his mother had passed away recently and he was feeling sad. Nate the weekend host spoke to the young man and prayed with him over the phone. The contact information was shared with Lisa the Equipping Coordinator for the York area near where the boy resided. Lisa reached out to him and made arrangements for his listener to contact him as well. This hurting young man was supported by several caring adults within the Joy El ministry team and will be continued to be mentored with godly wisdom from scripture. Alarming statistics reported by CNN and CBS last fall indicate that childhood suicide is on the rise. Please pray for our children that need to hear the hope of Jesus in this world. Pray that we will continue to reach them through Joy El Released Time Bible Program.

Author Thomas R. Yeakley will be speaking this coming fall at our Released Time Bible Program Volunteer Rallies. I have read several times his book “Praying Over God’s Promises”. This book has impacted my faith walk as I apprehend the promises that God has given to me! Please take a minute and review these verses that are some of my most favorite promises.

Gift to God?

Psalm 116:12 NIV - "What shall I return to the LORD for all his goodness to me?"

I recently prayed that God would be blessed by my service to him as I gave him my day. God promptly showed me this verse to remind me that everything is his to start with. 
Psalm 50:10 NIV - "for every animal of the forest is mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills." 
God showed me how I am his completely, my time, my talents, and my possessions all belong to him. How gracious is God that he allows us to return his belongings to him.

It reminds me of my toddlers class at church trying to feed me the snacks that I had just given them. I graciously obliged and took the slobbery snack with a sincere "Thank you". I can just see God doing the same for me when I offer him back what he as given me, a little tattered,  not in the perfect condition he gave it to me in, but he receives it graciously. God has told me and you in scripture what he wants from us -
Matthew 22:37 NIV - "Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'"

My Baby Brother is in Heaven

Last Friday I had the privilege to join a Released Time's closing program. During the snack time, I got to chat with some students about camp and memorizing verses. One thin blonde girl dressed as a princess complete with a tiara told me that her baby brother and grandmother were in heaven. I said "oh I am sorry" to which she immediately replied, "Oh Don't worry I am going to see them again when Jesus takes me to heaven!" I later learned that she was a student that had begun a relationship with Christ during Released Time. This is a perfect example of God's work in the life of a student. Grief turned to Joy!
1Th 2:19 NIV-  "For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you?"
